Homemade Burgers

On Friday night Dan (the bf) and I were going to go to Sobelman’s to finally use our Groupons we had, only to discover that they were expired… So instead Dan suggested that we just make our own burgers at home. I was a little leery about making them in a fry pan on the stove but they actually turned out really well. We each put different things into, and on our burgers:

Dan’s Burger

In the burger:

  • ground beef
  • egg
  • breadcrumbs
  • chopped onion
  • garlic salt
  • shredded colby jack cheese
  • A1 sauce

On the burger:

  • mozzarella cheese
  • mushrooms sauteed in worcestershire sauce

Leah’s Burger

In the burger:

  • ground beef
  • egg
  • breadcrumbs
  • chopped onion
  • garlic salt
  • worcestershire sauce

On the burger:

  • mozzarella cheese
  • pasta sauce
  • spinach

We were going to toast the buns, but got too wrapped up in the making of the burgers that we didn’t have enough time to. We also both noticed that they were very juicy and flavorful, but not quite as flavorful as we were expecting – next time we know to add a little more! Can’t wait to do this again and come up with my next burger.

What’s your favorite ingredient(s) to put in and/or on your burger?

Typically, I’m not a huge fan of cheeseburgers. I like my burger medium rare with lettuce, tomato and mayo. However, I can’t resist the delicious combination of sauteed mushrooms and swiss cheese. The stinkier the cheese, the better. I’m willing to try any type of burger, so long as it doesn’t have ketchup on it.

I love jalapenos and chopped onions on top. Also, like Dan, big fan of the worchester sauce in the burger mix. Leah, your burger photo looks very professional!
