Happy Pinsday – 3/23/12

March Madness Cupcakes

These cupcakes are perfect for all of the March Madness that is in full swing right now! Who are you rooting for?

Good luck to both Marquette & WI tomorrow night!!!

Easter Egg Garland

I think this is going to be my next project – it looks fairly easy and I think it would look cute above my living room windows. I’ll be sure to share how it goes.

WI Graphic

I’m not sure what this is from but I love it!! Has anyone been watching DD on Dancing with the Stars? I recorded it and only watched his dance – loved the great smile and all the shaking/hip thrusting 🙂

For those of you in WI – hope you’re all enjoying this wonderful weather we’ve been having!

Until next week…

March – Calendar of the Month Club

I am VERY late in posting this month’s calendar of the month from Scout Creative – but like I mentioned yesterday, I am behind on life in general right now!

When I saw this month’s calendar come through in my email earlier this month I loved it! However, I just wish it wasn’t so tiny – but I think it still turned out pretty cute. Here is what mine looks like:

P.S. Happy 1st Day of Spring!!

Unintentionally MIA

Hello All!

Sorry I have been MIA for the past week or so. I’ve had a crazy travel schedule for work (Chicago – Zurich – Munich (this was for fun though) – New York) and to top it off I got the cold that seems to be going around, right at the beginning of all my travels. So, I haven’t really been at home to do any projects, and the little bit I have been I haven’t really felt up to it. BUT – I get back home to WI tonight and won’t be traveling for awhile so things should get back on track here soon and hopefully I will have some fun Easter/Spring projects to share soon!

Happy Pinsday – 3/7/12

This will probably be my only post this week and most likely not again until next week’s Pinsday. I am currently sitting at the Hilton O’Hare, have been here since Monday for work, and tonight I am boarding a plane to go to Zurich. I’ll be in Zurich for work until Sunday morning then I get a mini vaca to go visit 2 of Dan’s friends in Munich until Tuesday morning!

And on to this week’s Pinsday…

Spring Wreath

Thinking this may be the next wreath I make. I was going to do an Easter one covered in jelly beans – but I just foresee that being a giant sticky mess!

Lucky Charms Cupcakes

One word – YUM!!

Fruit Roll Flowers

These beautiful flowers are made with fruit roll ups!! They show you how to make them, looks a bit tedious, but they are definitely pretty cool looking.

Until next week…

Easy DIY Hair Bow

I saw these cute hair bows and wanted to try to make them, but don’t have any children of my own to make them for so I decided to make them for a co-worker’s daughter since she has a new obsession with hair bows.

  • Felt (really you just need some scraps of felt)
  • Hot glue
  • Scissors
  • Snap hair clips

1. Cut a rectangle out of the felt – 3 inches by 1 inch

2. Round the corners of your rectangles3. Cut your center strips – 1.5 inches by 3/4 inch

4. Fold your rectangle in half

5. Fold each side of the half, backwards and in half again

6. It should like like this when pinched in the center

7. Wrap the center strip of felt around the center of your bow, securing with a dot of glue.

8. Slip the hair clip underneath the center piece

9. Find yourself a cute lil model to show off your bows!

Notice the hand on the hip – and, of course, that the bow matches the outfit!

Have to match the PJs too!

Happy Pinsday – 2/29/12

Happy Leap Day! I learned this weekend that apparently February 29th is an ‘acceptable’ day for a woman to propose to a man (don’t worry Dan, there will be no ‘popping the question’ happening today!) — so there’s your random fact for the day!

On to this week’s Pinsday…

Polka Dot Glitter Eggs

I’m looking forward to Easter and decorating Easter eggs and these are very cute!! I’ll just need to find someone to eat the eggs afterwards – not a big fan of hard boiled eggs or egg salad…

Light Bulb Fish Tank

This is the kind of pet I can actually have in my apt! I’ve seen posts on how to clean out light bulbs – hardest part would be finding one this large and then figuring out how to get the fish in there.

Dried Strawberries

Looks like an easy, yummy and healthy snack!

Until next week…

Monogram Wreath

By now you’ve probably realized that I like to have a wreath on the outside of my apt door at all times, usually holiday themed but I wanted one that I could use at all times/non-holiday times. I saw how to make these cute felt flowers, most likely on Pinterest, and thought they would look great on a wreath!

Here’s what I did for my wreath:

  • 1 sheet of felt for each flower
  • glue gun
  • scissors
  • ruler
  • wreath
  • wooden letter (optional)

Sorry I didn’t take a pic of all the supplies like I usually do – got too excited about making the flowers that I just jumped right in!

1. Measure out 2 strips of the felt that are 1.25 inches wide and 2 that are 1 inch wide

2. Measure out 1.25 inch squares out of the 1.25 inch strips and then 1 inch squares from the 1 inch strips.

3. And then cut them out.

4. Cut out petal shapes from each of the squares. You’ll want to keep the base as wide as possible.

5. Put a line of glue across the base of the petal and then fold the sides inwards. I used hot glue for this, be careful if you choose to do this too, I burnt my fingers a few times. I read that some people have just used craft glue but then need to find a way to hold the sides down while the glue dried.

6. With your remaining felt, cut out a 3 inch circle.

7. Starting with the 1.25 inch petals, begin gluing them around the edge of the circle.

8. Once you have the outer edge completed, make a 2nd inside row using the 1 inch petals.

9. For the center of the flower I just cut a thin strip of the remaining felt and wrapped it around itself.

10. For my wreath I found a twig wreath I liked, glued the flowers onto it and then added an L (for Leah). To finish it off, I just added to ribbon to hang it with.
